A life between literature and public service

Sheikh Hamidou Kane did not limit his career to writing. A senior civil servant, he also held several responsibilities within the Senegalese State. In particular, he was Minister of Industrial Development and Crafts. He then headed the Ministry of Planning and Cooperation. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye paid tribute to him. He greeted a figure whose work now belongs to the heritage of Senegal and Africa. Sheikh Hamidou Kane also leaves The Guardians of the Temple, published in 1995.
