Aliou Bah regains freedom in Guinea. The opponent benefits from a presidential pardon. He is one of the 217 inmates affected by the government measure of Friday, October 02.

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya granted a pardon to Aliou Bah. The decision was announced on Friday, October 2. It intervenes on the occasion of the national holiday. The president of the Liberal Democratic Movement was among 217 prisoners affected by this measure. Aliou Bah had been incarcerated since December 2024.

The opponent was sentenced to two years in prison. He had been prosecuted for « offense and defamation » against the Head of State. His case was then brought before the ECOWAS Court of Justice. In June 2026, the Community court had considered his detention arbitrary. She had ordered his immediate and unconditional release. The presidential pardon therefore comes several months after this decision. The available elements do not allow a direct link between the two events. Aliou Bah leads the MoDeL. He is one of the well-known figures of the Guinean opposition.
