Senegal and Rwanda are strengthening their cooperation. On October 6 and 7, 2026, Dakar and Kigali concluded eleven new agreements in several sectors at the end of the first session of their large mixed commission.
The meeting was held on October 6 and 7 in Kigali. The Senegalese delegation was led by the Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese from abroad, Cheikh Niang. The discussions made it possible to assess the state of relations between the two countries. Above all, they led to the conclusion of eleven agreements on different areas of bilateral cooperation.
A partnership to be consolidated
For Senegalese diplomacy, these new agreements reflect a common desire to consolidate the partnership between Dakar and Kigali. Cooperation was not limited to institutional discussions. On the sidelines of the large mixed commission, Cheikh Niang also participated in the Rwanda-Senegal Business and Investment Forum. Organized with the Senegalese Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Major Works (APIX) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), this forum brought together public and private actors from both countries. The discussions focused on the development of partnerships, the strengthening of trade relations and the promotion of investment.
With these eleven new agreements, Senegal and Rwanda thus show their willingness to give a new impetus to their cooperation. A rapprochement that should now be measured against the concrete implementation of the commitments made.
