European private capital is increasingly betting on Morocco’s future as a regional transport and logistics powerhouse. Italian ferry operator GNV, part of the MSC group, has announced a €1.3 billion fleet renewal program that includes assigning its newest LNG-powered ferries to routes serving Morocco.

Morocco at the crossroads of Africa and Europe

The decision underscores Morocco’s growing importance as a gateway linking African and European markets. Its strategic location, modern port infrastructure and expanding transport networks continue to attract major international investors. For Africa, the development demonstrates how infrastructure investment can strengthen regional integration while improving access to global markets.

Looking toward 2030

The investment is also closely aligned with Morocco’s preparations for the Coupe du monde 2030. Improved maritime connectivity is expected to support tourism, trade and mobility in the years leading up to the tournament.

More broadly, the announcement illustrates how international companies increasingly view Morocco as one of Africa’s most stable and strategically positioned investment destinations for long-term growth.
