The Senegalese Football Federation is facing internal tensions over bonuses linked to the Africa Cup of Nations. According to reports from Jeune Afrique, several members of the federation’s executive committee are unhappy after allegedly being excluded from the list of beneficiaries entitled to receive AFCON-related bonuses. The controversy has reportedly created unease within the governing body at a time when Senegalese football continues to enjoy strong continental influence.

Executive committee members reportedly frustrated

Sources cited by Jeune Afrique indicate that some officials believe the distribution process lacked transparency and fairness. The dispute revolves around financial rewards tied to the national team’s participation and performances in recent AFCON competitions. Some executive members reportedly expected to benefit from the bonuses but were ultimately left off the final list. So far, the Senegalese Football Federation has not publicly addressed the allegations.

Another sensitive issue for African football governance

The situation once again highlights recurring debates around governance, financial management and bonus distribution within African football institutions. While Senegal remains one of Africa’s football powerhouses, the latest controversy could place additional pressure on the federation’s leadership if the matter escalates publicly.
