Work on Morocco’s Grand Stade Hassan II is progressing rapidly, with the project entering a more advanced and visible stage of construction. The mega stadium is one of the continent’s most ambitious infrastructure projects and is expected to become one of the largest sports venues in the world. Led by the National Agency for Public Facilities, the project reflects Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen its sports infrastructure ahead of major international competitions, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The stadium will feature a capacity of 115,088 seats and will be built across a vast 150-hectare site. Designed to meet top international standards, it aims to host major global football and sporting events in the coming years.
Construction work is currently progressing across several technical areas at once. Structural engineering works, steel framework assembly, waterproofing, finishing operations, and façade installation are all underway. In parallel, electrical systems, plumbing networks, air-conditioning, and ventilation infrastructure are being installed on site.
The stadium is also being developed as a multifunctional complex. It will include VIP and VVIP areas, facilities for teams and match officials, dedicated media zones, and premium hospitality spaces. Administrative and security facilities will also support its operation as a world-class venue.
Designed by architect Tarik Oualalou in collaboration with global firm Populous, the stadium combines modern engineering with elements inspired by Moroccan identity, reflecting a blend of innovation and cultural expression.
As construction advances, the Grand Stade Hassan II is positioning itself as a landmark project for African sport. It highlights Morocco’s growing role as a hub for major sporting infrastructure on the continent and its ambition to host world-class events at the highest level.
