Morocco will welcome six national teams to Rabat from November 28 to December 5 for the preliminary competition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ Play-Off Tournament. The event will feature nine matches, with two teams earning qualification for the final stage of the play-off tournament. South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Ecuador, Ghana, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea will compete in this crucial stage of the road to Brazil, further highlighting Morocco’s role as a host of major international women’s football events.

Mohammed VI Football Complex to host nine matches

The preliminary competition will take place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, which is currently hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup™. The matches will be played during the November–December international window.

The six participating teams discovered their opponents during the preliminary-round draw. The opening fixtures will see Uzbekistan face Papua New Guinea, Chinese Taipei take on South Africa, and Ghana meet Ecuador. Each team will play three matches. The two sides that finish first and second in the overall standings will qualify for the final stage of the play-off tournament, scheduled for February 2027.

A key step on the road to Brazil 2027

The preliminary competition marks another important milestone in the qualification process for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™, which will be the first edition of the tournament held in South America.

By hosting the event, Rabat will bring together teams from different confederations in a competition that offers a final opportunity to move closer to the global showpiece.

The full match schedule, including kick-off times, is available through FIFA’s official channels. Media representatives wishing to cover the event can also consult FIFA’s media platform for accreditation information.
